Wooster Motor Ways - Latest News

Wooster Motor Ways has a history of creating partnerships to improve highway safety and the image of the trucking industry. Therefore, it seems only natural that the Wooster team is now leading the way in an effort to educate truck drivers about the Ohio Highway Watch Safety and Security Program.
Highway Watch is a national roadway safety program that utilizes the skills, experience and road savvy of America's truck drivers to help save lives, reduce accidents, and report crimes. The program's goals include:

Reduce highway accidents, injuries, and fatalities
Reduce police and medical response time
Identify unsafe and drunk driving and road rage

Ohio was among the charter states to implement Highway Watch and Wooster Motor Ways was one of the first trucking companies in Ohio to participate.
In conjunction with the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Ohio Trucking Association, WMW's safety management team is providing vital support to the Highway Watch Program in Ohio by conducting local training meetings for all truck drivers who want to become registered Highway Watch drivers.

"Safety Is Worth The Investment"
Wooster drivers are known for their safety records. We are especially proud of Myron Stough, Jr. who earned the 2002 OTA Driver of the Year award for his stellar 31 years of safe driving. "We believe that investing in safety training programs pays great dividends over the long haul," says Wooster President Paul Williams. "Our clients realize the value of Wooster's safety record, and they know that the cheapest rate doesn't include this kind of service."

Protecting The U.S.A.

As part of the U.S. homeland defense strategy, President Bush called on everyone to do their part to protect our country. With thousands of truck drivers criss-crossing the nation's roads, they can be an invaluable asset in the early detection of threats. Since trucks can potentially be used as weapons, it is imperative that truck drivers help to safeguard bridges, tunnels, and even their own vehicles. The Highway Watch Program gives truckers the training to properly identify and report such threats. "It is our privilege to contribute to our country's anti-terrorism efforts," says Don Cherry, Wooster Safety Director.
