At Wooster Motor Ways, safely plays an important role in everything we
do, from continuously promoting safe driving habits among our drivers
to educating the public about safely driving around commercial motor
vehicles. We are proud to announce that we have achieved our goal of
becoming an integral part of the national NO-ZONE Safety Campaign, an
educational effort spearheaded by the U.S. Department of
Transportation as part of a federal "Share the Road Safely"
project.
Teaming up with the DOT, the Federal Motor Carrier Administration
through the Ohio PUCO, the Ohio Trucking Association, and the Ohio
State Patrol, Wooster is bringing the lifesaving message about the
NO-ZONE to Ohio's drivers.
Taking The Message On The Road
Members of Wooster's Safety Department, as well as volunteers from our
pool of professional drivers, will be taking the NO-ZONE message on
the road to promote safety and to educate drivers—new and old—about
how to drive safely around the "big trucks."
"Wooster is donating the trailer that will serve as the
"rolling billboard" to advertise the NO-ZONE concept,"
said Don Cherry, Safety Director of Wooster Motor Ways. "Our goal
is to show people the five critical zones around trucks that they
should avoid. We will be taking the NO-ZONE trailer to schools,
service clubs, county and state fairs, and anywhere else we can to
spread this important safety message".
Ohio NO-ZONE Team Members
Funding, in the form of grants from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety
Administration through the Ohio PUCO, as well as from a source through
the Ohio State Patrol, provided money to produce and install the
colorful decals on the NO-ZONE trailer. "We greatly appreciate
the support of our partners in safety and look forward to doing our
part to make our roadways safer for everyone through education,"
said Paul Williams, President of Wooster Motor Ways. "We are
proud to invest in this program because we believe that it can improve
safety and save lives".
